Birdie Cracker Treats

Ingredients: 2 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tbs. oil
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt (or a little less)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup shortening, room temp
1/2 cup very warm water
1 4-oz jar baby food sweet potatoes
2 Tbs (or more) dried veggies run thru food processor
until pieces are very small, or powdered

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400

In a measuring cup, mix the jar of baby food and dried veggies into very warm water until well blended. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, oil and shortening until well blended. Add water mixture to dry ingredients and stir until smooth dough forms. Divide into 3, cover, and let stand for 10 mins. Roll out one section onto a lightly oiled cookie sheet, VERY, VERY thin and poke all over with a fork. Cut or score into squares and bake for 10 mins, or until crispy (but not too browned)and remove to racks to cool. Repeat for the remaining 2 sections. I put a bit of salt on some before cooking (Sophie likes to pick the salt pieces off - but I don't let her too often!) I left some unsalted. Sprinkled with loose millet before cooking and press into the dough a bit so they stay. Store in plastic bags in refrigerator or freeze and defrost as needed.
